About the Station

HISTORY
Radio HIT 100.3 FM went for the first time on the “AIR” on December 1st, 1997. HIT 100.3 FM is the commercial name for the company “Curacao Radio Station N.V.” This company first used the commercial name “Radio Super Jumbo” to operate the radio. “Radio Super Jumbo” went on the air for the first time in the month of December 1994. The last time “Radio Super Jumbo” was on the air was November 30th, 1997. Radio Super Jumbo started as a “DREAM TEAM” kind of thing. But like the majority of times this DREAM became a true nightmare. On November 13th, 1997 the radio station changed owners and immediately there after it changed management. The new owner considered it necessary to change the commercial name of the radio station to start a new era and give everyone involved with the radio the assurance that the nightmare was over. It succeeded in changing the direction the radio was going. Now the radio is booming and little by little it is taking care of the mess that was left behind. Management is aiming and believes to have the radio cleared of all old debts by the end of the year 2000.

EQUIPMENT
The equipment of Radio HIT is some of the most modern on the Island. The radio was setup by a dutch company which did an excellent job in constructing one of the most modern and professional radios in the Neth. Antilles. The Radio has a computer system that enables it to stay on the air 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It has all of the essentials and a lot of the toys (cd’s, md’s, DAT’s, tape decks, etc. etc.) which is always fun to have. The radio has a “VAN” or a “mobile unit” which it uses to transmit from different locations without it having to use phone lines. This mobile unit is able to transmit from almost any location on the Island. The radio has the ability to make two “LIVE” transmissions at the same time originating from two different locations. The radio has a 500W transmitter, which in combination with the multiplication factor of the antenna’s produces an effective output of 5000W.
